1933  At one point we had to climb a steep ice cliff formed by the seepage of water from above, "quarr water" they call it.
1941  Quor. Water oozing from the ground through snow and freezing on the surface.
1955  quar ice. A Labrador term for ice formed in spring from melt water draining on to a beach, ice foot or fast ice where it refreezes. Quar ice is often brownish in color and difficult to detect; it is slippery and may be a serious obstacle to foot and sled travel.
